Runtime Intelligence Service Provides Analytics for Bing Silverlight 4 “Killer Application”

.NET JRocks! Visual Studio 2010 Road Trip Leverages Runtime Intelligence To Improve Developer Experience

CLEVELAND, OH, April 26, 2010 – PreEmptive Solutions, the leading provider of solutions to measure, manage, and protect applications, announced today that the .NET Rocks! team has incorporated Runtime Intelligence into their “killer Bing Silverlight 4 application” used to track their progress across the continental United States in real time and connect developers across the globe.

The .NET Rocks! Visual Studio 2010 Road Trip is a 15-city tour where .NET Rocks! hosts Carl Franklin and Richard Campbell, along with development leaders, share essential Visual Studio 2010, Silverlight 4, and .NET 4.0 information with local development communities. In conjunction with the physical road trip, the Microsoft Bing team developed a Silverlight 4 application that tracks the “DotNetMobile” in real time as it moves through all 15 cities. Using this application, developers across the globe can share comments, photos, and ideas – the application can be found and run at http://silverlight.onterrasys.com/dnr_roadtrip/.

Now, with one click on the PreEmptive Solutions logo inside the application, users can pass through to the Runtime Intelligence Service portal to view application and feature usage, trends and behaviors.

“Incorporating Runtime Intelligence into our tracking application sets two important precedents,” noted Richard Campbell. “First, we are demonstrating in concrete terms one of the most compelling features inside Visual Studio 2010, the ability to inject application instrumentation into applications to help drive solid user-centered development practices. Second, by providing usage inside Silverlight 4 specifically, developers can see how this kind of precision instrumentation can support both in-house and rich web experiences efficiently and securely.”

“Of course, we are thrilled to have industry leaders like Carl and Richard embrace runtime intelligence,” said Gabriel Torok, president of PreEmptive Solutions. “What is also worth noting is how quickly they were able to accomplish all of this. With no prior training, the team installed Dotfuscator, configured Runtime Intelligence, and injected the analytics in just a few hours.
