Cleveland, Ohio and San Francisco, CA (VSLive booth #609) - February 7, 2005 PreEmptive Solutions, the leading provider of advanced code protection tools for Microsoft .NET Framework-based applications, today announced the availability of the release candidate of Dotfuscator Professional Edition Version 3.0. The newest version supports Visual Studio 2005 and extends its current abilities, allowing customers to produce the most secure and efficient applications built for the Microsoft .NET Framework. Dotfuscator Professional Edition is designed to provide the greatest protection and to create the most compact and efficient .NET Framework-based applications. Rather than shipping entire library files with an application, Dotfuscator's new assembly linking feature allows users to package only the minimum bits that are needed by the application to run. Assembly linking can eliminate tremendous inefficiencies that occur when entire library files are shipped with a new application because only a fraction of the functionality is required. In addition, Dotfuscator's new software watermarking feature provides a whole new dimension of security. Software watermarking can be used to hide customer identification or copyright information into software applications, similar to how it can be hidden in other digital content such as songs, movies and images. A watermark can be used to identify owners of the software or track the origin of a pirated copy.
