Leveraging New Open-Source Framework and Runtime Intelligence, Designers and Developers Can Now Capture Both User and Application Behaviors on – and Beyond – the Client.
PreEmptive Solutions Announces Support for Microsoft Silverlight Analytics Framework with Runtime Intelligence Analytics Provider
LAS VEGAS, NV, March 15, 2010 – PreEmptive Solutions, a leading provider of solutions to protect, measure, and manage application investments, announced today the immediate availability of the Runtime Intelligence Analytics Provider,™ giving designers and developers the ability to integrate Runtime Intelligence into Microsoft Silverlight applications through the new Silverlight Analytics Framework.
“We offer Silverlight instrumentation for developers through the post-compile injection capabilities of Dotfuscator®,” said Sebastian Holst, CMO PreEmptive Solutions. “Now, thanks to the Silverlight Analytics Framework, we can, for the first time, extend our analytics services to both designers and developers through Microsoft Expression Blend.”
The Silverlight Analytics Framework is a new open-source framework to allow designers and developers to integrate Web analytics into Silverlight applications in a consistent manner. Because the framework is enabled as a set of behaviors in Expression Blend, designers and developers can visually instrument their designs and configure A/B testing rapidly without writing any code.
“I already considered PreEmptive Solutions’ Runtime Intelligence to be a critical tool in my Silverlight toolbox,” said David Kelly, Principal User eXperience Architect, Wirestone, and Silverlight MVP. “Extending its reach beyond the developer and to surface it inside Expression Blend should make Runtime Intelligence that much more relevant to anyone who cares about Business Intelligence usage of their applications.”
PreEmptive Solutions’ Runtime Intelligence offers the following advantages over traditional Web analytics services:
- The analytics endpoint (and the resulting data) can be self-hosted and managed by the application provider.
- While the resulting Web analytics maps to the Microsoft Silverlight Analytics Framework data model, the underlying SOAP schema is shared with Dotfuscator’s instrumentation included with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.
The common schema allows Dotfuscator to provide a complementary instrumentation method for any .NET Framework component.
- Middle and back-office application tiers can be instrumented providing a deeper view across distributed application workflows.
- Components running on Azure can also be instrumented and measured and synchronized with the Silverlight user experience.
“PreEmptive Solutions has successfully used the Silverlight Analytics Framework to open its application instrumentation and performance monitoring to a new audience of designers using Microsoft Expression Blend,” said Michael S. Scherotter, principal architect evangelist at Microsoft Corp. and architect of the analytics framework.
