Dotfuscator® and the Runtime Intelligence™ Service combine to provide software plus services instrumentation solution to improve application quality, value and service level assurance
NEW ORLEANS -- July 15, 2009 -- PreEmptive Solutions announced today at Microsoft Corp's Worldwide Partner Conference 2009 the immediate availability of application monitoring and management support inside the Windows Azure platform from Microsoft.
By utilizing the Windows Azure, development teams can now track application feature usage to improve adoption and quality, ISVs can integrate with the evaluation software usage into Microsoft Dynamics CRM to increase win rates, and enterprises can integrate with application runtime data into Microsoft business intelligence solutions to improve business agility.
"Application developers targeting the Windows Azure platform must find innovative ways to measure usage, adoption and end-user patterns," said Gabriel Torok, CEO PreEmptive Solutions. "Further visibility into application resource utilization and stability within the cloud will help their organizations establish and manage appropriate service level requirements, as well as anticipate market requirements instead of just reacting to them."
The Dotfuscator Suite can inject feature and session-level instrumentation into compiled Microsoft .NET Framework components running inside the Windows Azure platform. The runtime data can be streamed to one or more end points including PreEmptive Solutions Runtime Intelligence Service -- a software plus service solution that provides near real-time dashboards, alerts and usage analytics.
In addition to supporting the Windows Azure platform deployed components, the Dotfuscator Suite supports monitoring and instrumentation of Microsoft .NET Framework components targeting Microsoft Silverlight, the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework and every version of the .NET Framework 4 Beta 1.
A starter set of instrumentation capabilities needed to implement monitoring and management support for the Windows Azure platform is also included in the community edition of Dotfuscator, which recently shipped when Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1 was made available.

"Tools unaware of the target runtime environment, requiring manual intervention to deploy and manage applications, are not cloud-enabled," in How to Identify a Cloud Application Development Tool 2Q09, June 17, 2009, Eric Knipp. Among the report's recommendations were "Pick tools that integrate with cloud system infrastructure natively, rather than creating your own. The capabilities of cloud system infrastructure are evolving, and 'rolling your own' tool requires accepting the risks associated with the dynamic nature of the target platform."
