Survey: 62% of Software Developers Expect Stimulus Package to have Positive Impact on Sector Within Two Years
Companies Cutting Spending on R&D, Technology, or Not Cutting, According to PreEmptive Solutions Survey
CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A survey of 259 software application developers at Fortune 1000 and other leading companies reveals that 62% of respondents expect the U.S. economic stimulus package to have a positive impact on the software sector within the next two years. Meanwhile, 31% of respondents indicated that their companies are cutting costs in key areas such as R&D and technology. The survey was conducted by PreEmptive Solutions from February 2 - 23, 2009.
Gabriel Torok, CEO of PreEmptive Solutions, noted, "The survey raises the question of the role of the software industry in the nation's overall economic recovery. If a portion of the Stimulus package goes to helping software companies apply their expertise toward improving transparency, efficiency and security for key industry sectors like healthcare or financial services, it will have a significant impact."
