PreEmptive's Dotfuscator Voted Best Security Tool by Readers of asp.netPRO Magazine
Cleveland, Ohio - May 9, 2005 PreEmptive Solutions, the leader in obfuscation, size reduction and optimization software development tools, today announced that its Dotfuscator(R) obfuscation software was selected as the winner of the Best Security Tool category in the 2005 asp.netPRO Readers' Choice Awards. Readers of asp.netPRO magazine voted for their favorite products in an online ballot in February, 2005. Details of the survey will be published in the June issue of asp.netPRO magazine. This is the second year in a row that PreEmptive has been recognized with a first place award. Last year's ballot included 160-plus products in 24 categories. Dotfuscator Professional Edition provides Microsoft .NET software code developers with an extra layer of protection against reverse-engineering, or decompilation. Essentially, because software applications posted on the web expose their code for all to see, obfuscation software makes this code unintelligible to prying eyes, thereby protecting a corporation's critical applications from being pirated or stolen. This award is especially gratifying because the ballots came from the magazine's readers," said Gabriel Torok, President, PreEmptive Solutions. "The community of ASP.Net and .NET Framework developers recognizes the value of Dotfuscator to protect their code and build more secure .NET Framework-based applications," he said. ASP.NET is a crucial component in Microsoft's .NET vision of interconnected Web services. Microsoft's .NET Framework is an XML Web services platform that enables developers to create programs that transcend device boundaries. The Dotfuscator Community Edition is one of just a very small number of third party applications distributed in the box by Microsoft with its Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Microsoft first included code security products from PreEmptive in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003. Today, PreEmptive remains one of the few companies whose products will ship with Visual Studio 2005. asp.netPRO magazine is dedicated to the professional ASP.NET and .NET Framework developer community and has a circulation of 40,000 newsstand and subscription readers.
