Add Runtime Intelligence Community Edition to your Applications

PreEmptive's Dotfuscator Community Edition (included with Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2012) allows anyone to automatically inject usage tracking functionality into any .NET application, and for that usage data to be reported to PreEmptive's Runtime Intelligence Service Community Edition portal. This allows you to monitor how many times your application is run, which features are being used, and how stable it is, for free.


Use of this service and portal comes with no guarantees or service level agreements. The Community Edition of PreEmptive Runtime Intelligence Service is limited to reporting 10 features. It does not use SSL (encryption) when transmitting data from the application to the endpoint, and the Runtime Intelligence portal does not require strong authentication, so the data transmitted may be visible to third parties. To use PreEmptive Runtime Intelligence Service Community Edition:

For Visual Studio 2012:

  • Launch PreEmptive Dotfuscator and Analytics from the Visual Studio “Tools” menu
  • Use the Dotfuscator help manual to learn how to instrument your application
  • When configuring your BusinessAttribute, use the default CompanyKey (7d2b02e0-064d-49a0-bc1b-4be4381c62d3)
  • When configuring your SetupAttribute, use the default (blank) CustomEndpoint, or use the dialog to set it to PreEmptive’s Free Runtime Intelligence Services
  • Deploy and run your application
  • Monitor your application’s usage at the following URL: http://www.runtimeintelligence.com/portal?CompanyID=7d2b02e0-064d-49a0-bc1b-4be4381c62d3&ApplicationID=Insert your Application ID here

For Visual Studio 2010:

  • Launch Dotfuscator Software Services from the Visual Studio “Tools” menu
  • Use the Dotfuscator help manual to learn how to instrument your application
  • When configuring your BusinessAttribute, specify a CompanyKey of 7d2b02e0-064d-49a0-bc1b-4be4381c62d3
  • When configuring your SetupAttribute, use the dialog to set it to PreEmptive’s Free Runtime Intelligence Services
  • Deploy and run your application
