Third Major Dotfuscator Community Edition Release in 12 Months Expands Real-time Defense and Streamlines Xamarin Integration
Dotfuscator Community Edition now provides native debugger defense, streamlined Xamarin integration, .NET Standard support, and VSTS marketplace distribution.
Seattle, WA — Microsoft Build — May 10, 2017 — Available with Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 Update 3, Dotfuscator Community Edition (CE) has undergone its third major expansion in less than twelve months.
“With the release of Dotfuscator CE 2017 Update 3, every Visual Studio 2017 now has the industry’s broadest defense against debugger hacks and reverse engineering exploits,” said Gabriel Torok, CEO of PreEmptive Solutions. “Our continued focus on simplifying our Xamarin integration means that these controls are available across the widest set of desktop and mobile platforms.”
Enhancements available for the first time with Dotfuscator Community Edition include:
- Detection and defense against unauthorized use of native debuggers
- Automated obfuscation of Xamarin projects inside Visual Studio 2017 projects
- Support for .NET Standard applications
- Availability of Dotfuscator CE for VSTS inside the Microsoft marketplace
“In the 6 months since the last Dotfuscator CE expansion, the number of monthly users has increased by 22% and the number of sessions (usage) increased by 51%,” said Sebastian Holst, Chief Strategy Officer PreEmptive Solutions. “As attacks against apps become more widespread, developers are responding by expanding the controls they’re taking to proactively harden their apps to protect both their Intellectual Property and their users’ data.”
Dotfuscator Community Edition is included at no cost to licensed Visual Studio 2017 users for personal use, research and testing under licensing terms that are modeled after Microsoft’s own Community Edition of Visual Studio.
A recent analysis of the NIST National Vulnerability Database revealed the six vulnerability categories that most commonly rely upon unauthorized use of debuggers now comprise 84% of the total number of vulnerabilities reported in 2016. This is an increase from 68% only three years prior.
All of these features are available with the commercial (Professional) versions of Dotfuscator.
“Dotfuscator operates as a seamless step within our complex development and deployment processes,” said Mr. Jürg Furthmüller, Development Manager and Product Owner ABBF Bausoft AG. “We build our software over 25X per day, 365 days per year,” Furthmüller continued. “Dotfuscator’s quality, reliability, and performance are as critical to ABBF as are Dotfuscator’s security and risk management controls.”
